Postscript is a file format that is used by applications to send high-quality image and text data to many printers. Although Adobe intended it to be used only for sending files to printers, Alladin developed a command-line program called Ghostscript to view these files. Ghostview is used for a graphical, user friendly Ghostscript interface. Both of these programs can be downloaded for free from the Ghostscript and Ghostview homepage. To use the Postscript versions of our Perparation Sheets, you either need to have Ghostscript (and preferably Ghostview) on your computer to view and print the files or you need a printer that recognizes Postscript. Most high-quality laser printers will recognize Postscript files. In the later case, you should download the Postscript file to your computer and then drag-and-drop it on the icon for your Postscript printer. In addition, there are programs at the Ghostscript and Ghostview homepage that let you print Postscript files to non-postscript printers. And as with Acrobat or PDF documents, Postscript documents allow us the ease of mind of knowing that when you download our preparation sheets and print them out, we know exactly how they are going to look-no matter what OS you use. |
